Terry
Goddard II Named Executive Director of The Serra Project
Pasadena, CA, October 1, 2006With
more than 15 years of experience in the delivery of HIV and AIDS
services, Terry Goddard II brings a wealth of talent, energy and
vision to his new position as Executive Director of The Serra
Project.
Prior to joining
our agency, Mr. Goddard was Executive Director of Aid For AIDS
(AFA)—the largest provider of direct financial service to people
disabled by HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County. He began at AFA in
1991 as a case manager, then was named director of client services—a
job he held for four years. He transitioned through AFA as its
operations director and deputy director before assuming the key
leadership role in 2002. During his tenure at AFA, Mr. Goddard
contributed significantly to raising public awareness and increasing
economic support for HIV/AIDS-disabled residents in financial
crisis.
Mr. Goddard received his A.A. in social science from Pasadena
City College and both his B.A. and M.A. degrees in psychology
from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California. He makes
his home in Pasadena.
Combining an in-depth
knowledge of AIDS care with the needs of the AIDS community, Mr.
Goddard brings to his new position an active involvement in advocacy.
In addition to participating in a number of government boards
and commissions, including the Los Angeles County Commission on
HIV and the Los Angeles Countywide HOPWA Advisory Committee, he
has been actively involved in strategic planning for the City
of West Hollywood.
Citing Mr.
Goddard's singular, long-term commitment to AIDS care, the Los
Angeles Times profiled him last year in its Sunday
magazine. In the article, Mr. Goddard points out
that housing continues to be one of the AIDS community's most
pressing issues. That need has been the overriding concern of
The Serra Project for the last 20 years, and so it is with great
enthusiasm that we welcome Mr. Goddard to lead our agency into
the next phase of our growth and development.
