For
those who battle destitution and
HIV/AIDS on a daily basis, a Serra Project home is often
their only link to a stable, healthy life.
Services include four 24-hour care group homes and hospice care; and more than 90 independent apartments throughout Los Angeles County with supportive case management.
The Serra Project prevents homelessness and helps move individuals and families from daunting challenges and despair to recovery and redicovered productivity.

The Serra Project is a nonprofit
agency founded in 1987 to provide safe, caring homes for people
living with HIV/AIDS who would otherwise find themselves in
unsafe, unhealthy living conditions. Our door is open to all
regardless of race, color, religion, marital or familial status,
sexual orientation, ancestry, gender, age, national origin
or ability to pay. In 2009, The Serra Project merged with Aid For AIDS to provide a more effective continuum of care, and they operate under the parent non-profit corporation, Alliance for Housing and Healing.

IN MEMORIAM
Terry Soldano, Director of Group Homes and Manager of Casa Portiuncula.
LOS ANGELES, CA. November 18, 2010. The Serra Project (a DBA of Alliance for Housing and Healing) is saddened to report the death of Terry Soldano on November 17, 2010. He was the long-time Director of The Serra Project's four Group Homes and Manager of Casa Portiuncula, the group home in Long Beach, California. He was deeply committed to the well-being of the many people who were fortunate to come under his care and management at The Serra Project. Terry left a legacy of service, and his loving kindness clearly radiated throughout the group homes. He created a place that was the kind of home anyone would seek in placing a loved one in the care of others.
Terry Soldano served The Serra Project and its clients for 20 years. He was Director of Group Homes since 2001. Originally hired as a cook in 1990, he moved up in management through the positions of Residential Manager and Residence Coordinator before acquiring the position of Director. He absolutely loved his work, and it showed - it was a perfect match. His creative skills and love of cooking were constant throughout his tenure at The Serra Project, bringing a joyful spirit and wonderful party meals to residents for holidays and seasonal festivities. A steady, caring director, he created a strong sense of family among staff. His countless initiatives over the years enhanced the lives of the residents and included organic gardens that gave residents a place to contribute or simply relax. He will be deeply missed by many.
Our thoughts are with his mother, Connie Soldano, his long-time partner Albert Carrillo, and his extended family.
